Attorney Phillip B. Nghiem is co-founder of the Consumer Justice Law Center. He founded the firm with his friends, Matt Loker and Brian Soo-Hoo, in 2020. Since Phil started practicing law, he has developed a reputation as a tireless advocate with a passion for helping consumers enforce their rights against large financial corporations, insurance companies, and debt collection agencies.
Phil always knew that he wanted to be a trial lawyer. During law school, Phil qualified to become a “certified law student” with the California State Bar. In this capacity, Phil participated in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and even a court trial.
Phil started his legal career with a national consumer protection law firm headquartered in Newport Beach. Within a week of Phil being admitted as an attorney by the State Bar, Phil tried his first case against a renown and seasoned trial lawyer who is now a Commissioner with the San Diego Superior Court. A month later Phil substituted into a case that was weeks from trial and after the trial commenced, rather than letting the case go to a jury, the debt collector dismissed a nearly $50,000 lawsuit against his client.
Phil has recovered millions of dollars for his clients and has helped countless consumers become debt free. And as one of few attorneys focusing on civil identity theft law, Phil has helped his clients retake their identities and chart a course towards rebuilding their financial reputation.
Phil was born and raised in Southern California. He received his Bachelors from California State University Long Beach in 2006 and returned to obtain a Masters Degree. Phil received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Orange County’s oldest law school in Orange County, Western State University College of Law where he was selected for the school’s Honors Moot Court Program.
