Matt has wanted to be an attorney ever since he can remember. This desire led Matt to the University of Toledo where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Social Thought with a concentration in Spanish.
After meeting his wife, Kim – a California native – while studying abroad in Alicante, Spain, Matt decided to follow love and moved to San Diego to attend California Western School of Law. Matt served as President of the Entertainment & Sports Law Society and Vice President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society and earned various awards such as the Academic Achievement Award and the Telecommunications Award while in law school.
Matt then joined one of the largest consumer law firms straight out of law school where he was a Partner for several years and litigated complex consumer cases involving the telecommunication and finance industry. Matt’s efforts not only resulted in multi-million dollar recoveries but in these industries agreeing to modify their business practices.
Matt’s efforts on behalf of his clients have also been recognized by his peers. As a result of his litigation successes in recent years, Matt has been selected each year since 2017 for as a Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Star, which is an honor given to only 2.5% of attorneys under the age of 40.
Matt frequently lectures throughout the country on all matters relating to consumer protection, privacy, and finance and has published articles in these fields.
He has also successfully briefed and argued many appeals, including before the Federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In 2019, Matt decided to start Loker Law, APC which focuses on consumer protection cases involving identity theft, credit reporting issues, and unfair debt collection practices. Matt also teaches Contracts to first year law students at the San Luis Obispo College of Law.
